Spanish Handball Federation Francisco Blázquez president stated for Marca about plans to organize Men’s EHF EURO 2028 opening match at stadium in Madrid.
- I want the opening match to be held there, and ideally the group stage in Madrid too. It’s a way to push for a competitive handball club in Spain’s capital to challenge Barça, who lost two games this season and recently drew with Logroño. We’ve already spoken with Real Madrid—they’re not primarily interested, but Atlético Madrid is. It would be during football’s Supercopa, so the stadium would be available. My dream is to break Germany’s record for handball attendance in a football stadium – said Blazquez for Marca.
