TBV Lemgo binds “one of the most influential players in club history” until 2030 – Tim Suton

Lemgo fans have reason to celebrate even during the national team break. Club icon Tim Suton (28) has extended his contract, originally set to run until 2026, for the long term. The Lemgo captain, currently in his tenth season with the Bundesliga handball club from Lippe, has signed a new contract until June 30, 2030, ensuring he remains one of the club’s key figures in the coming years.

“Tim is one of our most important and consistent pillars in both attack and defense. Knowing that such a player will stay with us until 2030 is an incredibly positive signal,” said TBV coach Florian Kehrmann, delighted about his captain’s contract extension. Born in Kirchheim unter Teck (Baden-Württemberg), Suton first joined Lemgo in the 2014/15 season from Rhein-Neckar Löwen. After a year at TuS N-Lübbecke, the former top talent returned to Lippe and has been an indispensable part of the team ever since. Suton has played 248 league matches for TBV, scoring 844 goals. In the current season, he has already registered 147 direct goal involvements in 19 games, with 91 goals and 56 assists. The decision to extend his contract for many more games is a mutual sign of trust:

“For me, the club, coach, arena, fans, environment, people, and city together form the perfect package that I have come to greatly appreciate over the years in Lemgo. Signing a contract until 2030 is a wonderful mutual expression of trust. My long tenure at TBV and my role as captain already fill me with great pride, and I am happy to continue contributing to shaping Lemgo’s future in the years to come,” Suton said, beaming with joy, having become a father for the second time in December.

Kehrmann added: “Tim has been an incredibly important player for us for many years. As captain, he has taken on even more responsibility this season and made another big step forward, as reflected in our matches so far. Over his time here, he has developed not only as a player but also personally. He takes great care of young players and is a role model for everyone, especially in terms of training discipline and professionalism. Tim has a long past here and now an even longer future with TBV – and that makes us very happy!”

TBV managing director Jörg Zereike also sees the contract extension as a crucial milestone in Lemgo’s squad planning: “Of course, TBV is still often measured by the titles and big names of the past – but Tim is undoubtedly already one of the most influential players in the club’s history. Committing to a club for such a long time in today’s era and exemplifying TBV’s values every day is anything but a given. That’s why we are very happy that we were able to reach this groundbreaking agreement with Tim in a spirit of trust.”
