“THE LAST GOLDEN CROATIAN BOY” – Blazenko Lackovic retires!

The last member of golden Croatian generation from World Championship 2003 and Olympic Games 2004, Blazenko Lackovic, officially ended a professional career.

The 39-years old left back has decided to finish career at Hamburg Sport Verein, the member of the 2nd Bundesliga, where he had defensive role, but also worked as assistant coach of Torsten Jansen.

Lackovic began his career in domestic team RK Varteks Di Caprio before he moved to Zagreb, where he played until 2004.

His Bundesliga’s life began in 2004 in Flensburg, continued in HSV Handball, where he won Bundesliga and EHF Champions League titles in 2012 and 2013.

Lackovic played at RK Vardar Skopje 2014-2016 and get back to Germany at THW Kiel (2016-2017) before come back to Hamburg.

In total, Lac won eight medals with Croatia from 2003 to 2013. The last podium for him was in Spain at World Championship 2013.
