Tough start of EHF Champions League had THW Kiel. In Plock domestic Wisła was close to win their first game in CL, but finally THW won by one goal 33:34. Manolo Cadenas’ team played really good and they were able to make a big sensation.
Wisła started the game perfectly, winning 3:0 after few minutes. They were playing good defense, which let them enlarge the distance to four goals (6:2, 11 min). THW Kiel took their first leading in 20 min of the game after Patrick Wiencek’s goal from the line. However Wisła was playing really good game with Toromanović, Jurkiewicz and Lijewski in the attack and they didn’t let THW to lead more than one goal. Finally first half ended with 14:14 result.
During the second half game didn’t change much, there was still ‘goal by goal’ match. Both teams had their changes and in the end THW won. But it wasn’t really predictable – in 30 seconds and 33:33 result Wisla was in the attack and the attempt of Nenadić wasn’t successful. However Płock still had a ball, but soon lost it due to terrible mistake of Ivan Milas, who gave ball directly into Filip Jicha’s hands. Czech player knew what to do and in 5 seconds he scored, giving his team first victory in CL group phase.
