Budapest open iit’s heart to Beach Handball and best World players in senior competition just some hours after we get European champions in U16 age on the EURO held in Portugal’s costal city Nazare.
Some “underdog” teams came up to the decisive matches which shows that BH start being much more developed in Europe than previous years and with more national teams competitive on top level then indoor handball.
Titles goes to Netherlands in female and Spain in male competition. “Oranje” girls won in the final against Spain (17:6; 20:18). Bronze medal stay in Portugal as host team won against Norway 2:1 (14:23; 18:16; 5:2).
In male competition Spain won in final against Portugal with 2:1 (28:18; 22:23; 8:6). Third place match won Italian national team by beating Russia 2:0 (26:18; 25:20).
MVP players on this competition are Beatris Souza (POR) and Jorge fernandez Arias (ESP).
This EURO was qualification competition for the next years’ Beach Handball World Championship U17 that will be “last cut” for the teams that will participate on inagural Beach Handball competition on one Olympic games – Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires 2018.
