Veszprem clinch 12th win in SEHA GSS

Hungarian TOP team MKB MVM Veszprem ended the 2014 in classy manner.  One of the best handball outfits in Europe came routinely to their 12th win in the regional SEHA Gazprom South Stream League by triumph over Serbian best side RK Vojvodina 31:26 (18:11). Hungarians have played as much as they needed to took a new points in front of home fans in Veszprem Arena, while the Serbs showed the best of their quality level, highly motivated to present themselves in the best possible way in one of the most famous handball halls in Europe.

Even without TOP scorer Momir Ilić and Croatian line-player Renato Sulić, Veszprem managed to build an early distance – 6:1 after only six minutes of the match. The main roles in the home squad had trio, Mate Lekai – Christian Zeitz – Andreas Nilsson, who was unstoppable for Vojvodina’s defense.

However, the main problem for visitors was their attacking performance as they scored only three goals in opening 10 minutes of the clash (10:3). That allowed many easy goals for the host players, who had no problem to found a net behind Vojvodina’s goalkeeper Miroslav Kocić.

Serbian team put the pressure off  and began to score more goals until the end of the first half. That was a real shotout from both sides as Veszprem went on 17:8 before the break.

Team led by head-coach Djordje Ćirković have found the rhythm in the second half, which Vojvodina won by two goals at the end.  Team’s captain Uroš Elezović took responsibilty and showed the best part of his shooting skills. Home team held upper hand, reached the highest advantage in 46th minute – 26:16, when question about the match winner became irrelevant.

In the last quarter of the match, Vojvodina wanted to solve a huge gap, and they did that with a series of the goals, which put them much closer to the winners at the end – 31:26.

The best scorer in the winning squad was Swedish line-player Andreas Nillson with seven goals, while Uroš Elezović netted one less for the Serbian champions.

Veszprem have finished 2014 with 100% score – 12 wins, while Vojvodina going on winter break with only one victory, three ties and nine defeats.

In the last SEHA GSS match in 2014, Tatran Presov beat Meshkov Brest 26:22.
