Author of 6 goals, best player of the match Anna Vyakhireva shared her thoughts after the match against Serbia.
“I’m really proud of the girls. I think it was not our best game but maybe it was because of the 5 days of rest, we had lots of turnovers, also I think because of this break; but we have a lot of really hard games in front of us and we’ll keep focused, move on and fight until the end, we’ll do our best and then we’ll see”, expressed the 23-year-old right back in press conference.
Back in the mixed zone, the left handed Russian talked about her feelings on the competitions so far: “I’m satisfied with this game today, I think my team didn’t do the best but it was a good job. We kept some power for tomorrow and for now I cannot think about the past, we need to focus for tomorrow.
HP: What’s the best thing you did as a team so far?
Vyakhireva: Winning (laughs). I think we played very good team handball and this is the best. If we speak of someting in concrete, I think it’s the defense, we are doing a good defense now and I hope that we continue to do it.
HP: And personally, what did you do best?
Vyakhireva: Well, me…(looks down) It’s not good, but sometimes I can help the team with some creation of situations.
HP: It was enough to make you best player of the match today…
Vyakhireva: Yes, that’s fine, but we won and that’s the most important thing.
Russia’s next match will be tomorrow against Denmark, who are already out of the discussion for a place in the semifinals. A victory will grant Russia a place among the best 4 o the competition as they already have 6 points and are leaders of the main round group I.
