WC 2011 TOP 10 HEROES: Onesta’s time!

After fantastic World Championship in Sweden, Handball-Planet.com made a list of TOP 10 WHC 2011 HEROES. Here are the most successful men of the handball world:

1.       CLAUDE ONESTA

He deserves to be honoured as the best ever, because of his winning series since 2008. If France continues to win, EURO 2012 and OG 2012, it will be hard to find any similar example, not just in Handball, but in other sports as well.

2. ULRIK WILBEK

The man called „system“. Even though he lost some of the key players he showed that with great coaching skills, players can go on and play at TOP level in small amount of time. Bravo, Ulrik. The most beautiful handball was played by Denmark.

3.  NIKOLA KARABATIĆ

He is the best, when necessary. As in Zagreb and Vienna, he had outstanding performance in the Final game. That is why France can count on much more medals in the years to come…

4.       MIKKEL HANSEN

Fantastic shooter, showed his potential in Sweden as the best scorer of the Tournament.  It’s time that this level of performance we see in AG Copenhagen’s competitions.

5.       VALERO RIVERA

After some bad years for Spanish handball, „the winner“, Rivera gave back mentality to the team made by great names. That is why Spain is now third and probably, more medals will come in near future…

6.       SWEDISH TEAM

Obviously, they are not a TOP team, but they found their way to the semifinal. Good defence, fantastic  jumping and running series, showed how big is the impact of home court in team performance.

7.       LAJOS MOCSAI

There were not many people who believed that Hungary could reach TOP 7 places and Olympic Qualifications. But that was made possible by the „experienced wolf“, Mocsai, who was the greatest figure in this big Hungarian success.

8.       ARGENTINA

Refreshment for handball world. Argentina gave us some euphoria, something different. They were brave, they didn’t give up. Hopefully, we will see more in the future…

9.       OSCAR CARLEN

Even he had problems with his knee (he will be out of the court for six months because of broken ligaments), he played and he made good plays. Carlen will surely have a bright future…

10.   NIKLAS LANDIN

Outstanding performances of the young Danish goalkeeper. Many people believed in his capabilities to make such a strong impact for the team in his 23rd year.  He showed that he is already one of the best goalkeepers on the Earth…
