WISLA & SABATE = 2028!
Successful story of Orlen Wisla Plock and Spanish coach Xavi Sabate will continue. According to the new deal, Sabate will stay on the helm of “Oilers” at least until summer 2028. Together with some future signings profiles like Richardson and Bergerud, team from Plock obviously dream big.
“The 2023/2024 season performed by our club will be remembered in the history of handball for many years to come. In the year of the 60th anniversary of the existence of the Handball Section in our city, ORLEN WisÅ‚a PÅ‚ock finished the competition with the Double Crown after 13 years, winning the coveted Polish Championship, and also defended the ORLEN Polish Cup for the third time in a row. This would not be possible without coach Xavi Sabate, so it is with great joy and pride that I would like to announce on behalf of the Management Board that he will lead the Nafciarze team until June 2028. This is an expression of the trust we have in Xavi, who has made our club make enormous progress over the last six years. We believe that under his leadership we will continue to build a great WisÅ‚a and fight for a place in the Final Four of the Champions League. – said Artur Stanowski, President of the Management Board of SPR WisÅ‚a PÅ‚ock.
- I am very happy to continue my mission at ORLEN WisÅ‚a PÅ‚ock. With each season we take a step forward, developing greatly. We are implementing an ambitious project both in Poland and in Europe. We have clear goals to achieve, as well as the support of our sponsors and amazing fans. For me, it is a privilege to work day after day with the players and staff in PÅ‚ock. I feel at home here and I can’t see a better place where I could be right now. – commented Xavi Sabate, Coach of ORLEN WisÅ‚a PÅ‚ock.
The Blue-White-Blues led by coach Xavi Sabate won the first Polish Championship in 13 years, and also reached for 3 ORLEN Polish Cups and 5 vice-champions of our country. The Spanish coach also led the Nafciarze to win the bronze medal in the Europa League, and also contributed to the historic advancement to the best eight in the EHF Champions League.
“Coach! We are very happy and proud that together we will write the next chapter of WisÅ‚a history!”, it’s written at the bottom of club’s announcement.
