HAJRA COLOGNE: Ilić saves Veszprem against Vardar!

MVM Veszprem will play at VELUX EHF Final 4 in Cologne for the third time in a row. The Hungarian champions weren’t on the level from the first match against RK Vardar Skopje (29:26 win at “Jane Sandanski”), but individual quality of Momir Ilić, Mirko Alilović and Laszlo Nagy became the biggest power in the clash with strong Macedonians – 30:30 (12:14).

RK Vardar’s coach Raul Gonzales’ made a great tactical impact on the start with 5-1 defense (Dibirov) which caused a lot of problems to Hungarian back-line. Macedonians had +4 several time during first half (2:6, 8:12, 10:14).

However, everything has changed in the second part of the match. Mate Lekai put his time in lead for the first time in 39th minute (19:18), but visitors managed to stay in the battle for Cologne until the end.

Matjaž Brumen netted for 28:27 lead three minutes before the end, when shooting power of Momir Ilić (three goals for last 150 seconds) made the difference…

Ilić netted nine goals for the winners, while Dujshebaev scored five for Vardar…
