POLISH FINAL: Kielce VS Wisla 2:0

Vive Tauron Kielce took the second victory over Orlen Wisła Płock and is one step closer to defending the Polish champion title. Kielce won at home 33:26 and next game or two will take place next weekend in Płock.

The second final began quite differently than the first one. None of the teams was able to gain any bigger advantage and for ten minutes Kielce only managed to keep a one-goal edge. Płock’s performance was noticeably better than yesterday and it was reflected in the result, even though they had to manage without Zhitnikov who did quite well on Saturday. On the other side of the court, Jurecki continued his great performance. Eventually Šego’s saves and Wisła’s errors allowed Kielce to race into a 7-goal lead one minute before halftime (18:11). The end of the first half, however, became Płock’s moment as they scored three times in a row and cut the gap to 4 goals.

In the second half they continued catching up with Kielce and in 33. minute Wisła were only 2 goals behind. Finally, Aginagalde broke his team’s helplessness in attack and defending champions started forging ahead. Their good performance and numerous mistakes of the guest team gave Kielce even 9 goals of advantage with three minutes to go. Płock managed to improve the result a little but in the end they lost by 7.

Now Kielce need only one victory become Polish champions; Płock on the other side need to win the first game at home if they want to keep the chance to win the title.
