Vladimir Cupara joins HBW Balingen’s Bundesliga comeback

HBW Balingen-Weilstetten returned to the Bundesliga in style, winning the second division title ahead of Bietigheim and the rest of the competition. After spending two seasons in the second tier following relegation from the world’s strongest league in the 2023/2024 season, the team will strengthen its goalkeeping line next season with a name that brings a decade of experience from major clubs on the biggest stage.
Serbian international Vladimir Cupara will wear the jersey of the team where he will form a goalkeeping duo with occasional German international Daniel Rebmann. Both will work under Nikola Marinović, the goalkeeping coach of the Austrian national team.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper spent the previous three seasons with Dinamo Bucharest, winning three league titles with the Romanian side. Before moving to Romania, Cupara spent four seasons with Hungarian giants Veszprém, whom he joined from Polish powerhouse Kielce, the club with which he played at the EHF FINAL4 in Cologne in 2019.
He began his career at SC Voždovac, while his spell at Crvena zvezda served as the springboard for his first move abroad, to Spanish side Ademar León.
Cupara made his senior Serbia debut on the major international stage at the EHF EURO 2018 in Croatia, and for many years he has been part of a recognizable goalkeeping tandem with Dejan Milosavljev.
