Brothers Gilles refused a new contracts with HSV!

Two leading players of  German vice-champion and Cup title holder, HSV Hamburg, brothers, Bertrand and Guillaumme Gille, refused to renew contracts with the club. They demand longer contracts and higher wages.

French brothers are in Hamburg since the beginning of the season 2002/2003, practially, from the beggining of HSV’s Era, for many years, the axle of the team, in attack or defense. Recently, the HSV coach Martin Schwalb less frequently uses the services of experienced players.

Bertrand Gille, the best handball player in the world in 2002, losing his status from the rival Croat, Igor Vori, and in defense is replaced by Matthias Flohr. His older brother, Guillaume has on his position, Duvnjak and Kraus, so much less chances to be at the court.

It is not surprising that the brothers refused to extend the contract with the club. As German media’s wrote, younger brother, Bertrand received a two-year deal, and Guillaume contract for a period of one year. Earnings of both players are going to be reduced substantially, which is associated with the overall cuts in the budget of the club.
