Didier Dinart has finally opened his heart and expressed feelings after dismissing from the position of the French national team coach in February. France didn’t qualified for the Main Round of the Men’s EHF EURO 2020 which was practically “red card” for the young coach who overtook the demanding position after Claude Onesta departure at the end of Olympic cycle in Rio 2016.
- I am amazed at the treatment that was reserved for me ,” he says. I was first confirmed as head of the France team the day after our elimination. The day before my eviction, on a television set, I receive this support and the next day, I learn through the voice of my assistant that I am no longer the coach of the Blues. I have a little feeling of having been thrown like a Kleenex, after 23 years spent serving the French team as player then assistant coach then finally head coach – said Dinart for French TV and added:
- I have the feeling that I did not receive the same treatment as Daniel Costantini and Claude Onesta ( his predecessors ) ,” he continues. Daniel remained six years without winning a title between 1995 and 2001, Claude took five years to win his very first in 2006, yet recovering a world champion team. Me, titled from my first World Cup as main trainer, I am thanked unceremoniously at the end of the Euro, the only competition that I will not have finished on the podium at the head of the Blues. I find it difficult to understand these two weights, two measures. I thought, like my predecessors after their respective mandates at the head of the France team, that I could stay for a time in the Federation and be called to other missions. However, my contract ends on September 1 and nothing has been offered to me for the time being. Again, I am amazed at this difference in treatment – concluded Dinart.
The new French NT coach is Guillaume Gille.
