Goran Johannessen Achille tendon injured again!
Norway have played Olympic tournament without Goran Johannessen.
The back-line player of Norwegian super-project Kolstad IL has injured Achille tendon in April which prevented him of joining national team for the Olympic stage in Paris.
It will always remain a question whether Norwegian performs better in quarter-final against Slovenia in Johannesen’s presence in the team, but a 30-year-old handball player has much more serious days upcoming.
“Gøran has trained very well since his operation in April, and we were looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch in the autumn. But when he returned from vacation in the summer, it became clear that something was wrong. Gøran was sent for an MRI scan, and the results were disheartening. His Achilles tendon had torn again,” the club said in a statement. “It was a shock. I had made some progress in the last few weeks, but I noticed that I was having problems with certain toe-lifting exercises. When I found out that my Achilles tendon had been torn for so long, it was just so far from the reality I thought I was living in that it was a surreal experience,” Søgard Johannessen commented on the bad news. The 30-year-old hopes that it will “only” be a setback of 2.5 months compared to the original plan. “I will train well and bear the fruits of this work for many years to come. I will come back stronger,” said Goran in official statement by the club.
