HBC Nantes and Nicolas Tournat together until 2030: This is my club!

HBC Nantes are delighted and proud to announce the contract extension of French international line player Nicolas Tournat for three additional seasons, keeping him at the club until 2030.
Having joined the HBC Nantes academy in 2012 under the guidance of Grégory Cojean, Nicolas Tournat signed his first professional contract in 2014. Until 2020, he wore the colours of “Le H”, discovered European competition and the EHF Champions League — reaching the final in 2018 — and won his first trophies (French League Cup, French Cup and Trophée des Champions).
In search of experience abroad, he moved to Poland. With Kielce (2020–2024), he won three Polish league titles, one Polish Cup, and reached the EHF Champions League final twice.
Olympic champion in 2021 and world champion in 2024, he decided to return to HBC Nantes in 2024. More experienced, he quickly re-established himself as one of the pillars of Grégory Cojean’s squad, already scoring 372 goals in a season and a half.
Initially under contract with HBC Nantes until 2027, the French international — with 127 caps and 303 goals for the national team — is now tied to the club with the three ermine symbols until June 2030.
Nicolas Tournat:
“I’m very happy to continue this adventure with HBC Nantes. It was an obvious choice — this is my club, the one closest to my heart, where everything began. I grew up with this club, and it is a real source of pride for me to commit myself here for the long term and to try every day to help this team win.
It is truly amazing to fight for this jersey and to experience all of this. I want to achieve beautiful and great things with this club.”
This extension also pleases club president Gaël Pelletier:
“It is a real pleasure to continue this journey with Nicolas. He joined the club in 2012, in the academy, at just 18 years old. Since then, he has grown here, with us. Today, he is one of the best players in the world in his position, but above all he remains a player deeply attached to HBC Nantes.
Nicolas is one of those players who embodies the soul of the club. Through his commitment, his high standards and his attachment to the collective, he transmits every day the spirit and values that unite us. For the younger players as well as for the newcomers, he is a reference point, an example of what it means to wear this jersey.
The desire to continue together was only natural. At HBC Nantes, we believe in loyalty, development, and stories that are built over time. Nicolas is one of those stories, and we are very happy to continue writing this chapter with him.”
