Chilean handball team wrote the most pleasant chapter of the national history! The first ever European scalp was taken at the start of IHF World Championship in France! Chileans made a day of January 13 unforgetable by beating Belarus 32:28 (14:14).
Both teams had their periods of domination. Chileans led 9:5 in the first half, but only 12 minutes before the end, Belarus were on +3 – 24:21. However, fantastic finish of outsiders with 6:1 series in the last six minutes earned first two points for Chile and put them with one leg at knock-out stage!
The best Chilean player, right back Rodrigo Salinas netted eight goals, Feuchtmann scored seven, while on the European side Artsem Karalek scored 10 goals.
