Hungary: Important away victory for Pick Szeged

Only a few days after suffering heavy defeat in Switzerland in the CL, Pick Szeged had to play an away match against third-placed Csurgói KK in the Hungarian League. The home team were eager to prove that Szeged could finally be beaten. Pick however had other ideas. They immediately took the initiative by scoring from almost every attack. Csurgó could only keep the pace until the 15th minute (6-7). Thanks to great saves from goalkeeper Roland Mikler, Csurgó couldn’t get closer and Pick’s lead increased to a constant 2-3 goals. In the final minutes of the first half goals from Frantisek Sulc and Jonas Larholm made Pick’s task a lot easier (30th minute 10-15).
Pick Szeged decided the fate of the match in the first fifteen minutes of the second half. With tight defence, superb goals from Sulc, Larholm, Rajko Prodanovic and saves from Péter Tatai resulted in a comfortable 7-goal lead (45th minute 16-23). Csurgó could shave 1-2 goals off in the coming minutes but Pick’s victory was never in any real danger.
