ITALY – SERIE A: BOZEN AND FASANO WIN THE FIRST SEMI-FINAL MATCH

Junior Fasano and Bozen both took the lead in their Scudetto semi-final matches in the Italian Serie A. The two teams, who already contended for the last two Italian championships, have won, the first one beating Terraquilia Carpi 28-21 on home ground, and the latter defeating Romagna 26-20 in an away match, opening their Play-Offs with a positive result. And now waiting for the rematch, scheduled for next week.

Junior Fasano won the match againstTerraquilia Carpi in Pala San Giacomo (Conversano), in front of 1500 viewers, with a finalscore of 28-21, conquering the first semi-final match. Maione and his teammates gained an important advantage, after closing 15-10 the first half of the match, getting as far as having a 9goals gap during the second half (24-15), when Carpi tried to catch up, especially in preparation for next week rematch. However, the offensive efforts made by Sperti and his team were to no avail. Fasano won 28-21. The rematch is scheduled for next Saturday, at 19.00, in Rubiera.

Bozen’sdefendingchampionsmanaged to succeed in the first leg, playedon hostile ground, conquering the Pala Cavina (Imola), Romagna’s home court, with a final score of 26-20. Bozen wasleadby Dean Turkovic – the best striker in thesePlay-Offs – whoscored 8 goals. Bolzano closed the first halfwith an edge, 13-8, and improved it during the second half, taking the advantage to a solid +6. This will be the gap looming over the rematch, to be held at Pala Gasteiner (Bolzano) next Saturday (14th May), at 19.00.
