Handball World Cup in crisis
The Handball Confederation in North America and the Caribbean announced today the cancellation of the men’s pre-world tournament, which was to be hosted by Mexico in November, following the postponement of the original date in June.
“The contingency that Mexico is experiencing due to the pandemic has led to cumulative restrictions that unfortunately do not allow that nation to preserve” is written in the statement.
The regional Confederation announced for this Monday a virtual meeting of the member countries in search of an alternative, but sources in the Cuban Federation indicate that unofficially a headquarters is not in sight due to health and financial complications in the area.
IHF World Championship 2021 will be organized by Egypt in January, therefore there is little time for readjustment and an option may be the designation of the regional ticket by the current ranking or IHF will decided to give another “wild-card” to some of the European nations like Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro…
