Skjern Handbold making the strong international profile of roster for upcoming years. The Danish Cup and Super Cup 2017 winners signed a three years contract with the Norwegian national team member – Eivind Tangen, starting from summer 2018.
The 24-years old lefthander will join Skjern after current season in which he will play at Midtjylland. Tangen was one of the “wonder kids” of Scandinavina handball as he made a debut for senior national team at age of 17. So far, Norwegian has 50 appearances for the national team. He was a member of Berge’s squad at World Championship 2017 in France, where Scandinavians made historical success by winning the silver medal:
“A very exciting addition to the Skjern squad”, says chairman Carsten Thygesen.
– Eivind is a young and frightened Norwegians who can play at both ends of the court. He has already proven at international level that, with his physics, shooting power and game understanding, he can create problems for any defense, says Carsten Thygesen.
After a handful of seasons in Fyllingen / Bergen, Eivind Tangen changed to HC Midtjylland, where he scored 112 goals in the past season and made 47 assists in 26 matches.
“I’ve learned a lot about playing in the Danish league and I’m looking forward to continuing my development in a top club like Skjern, who has played for the gold in recent years,” says Eivind Tangen.
Skjern Handbold already has Kasper Søndergaard in the same position, but the connection of Eivind Tangen does not mean that the double European champion and Olympic gold winner are on their way. On the contrary, it sounds from the club’s chairman:
– Kasper Søndergaard is one of the league’s biggest stars and a key figure in Skjern Håndbold on and off the court. We would like to keep him for many years, and we believe that we can because we now get a profile like Eivind Tangen, who can complement the position, “says Carsten Thygesen, continuing:
“Our loyal home audience at Skjern Bank Arena will get the pleasure to see the best duo on the right back next year,”
“I see it as a good challenge, and at the same time I do not find a better sparring partner in that position throughout Scandinavia. We are going to complement each other very well, says Eivind Tangen.
