It didn’t take too long for the organizers of the New Belgrade Summer Cup tournament to creating a recognizable handball event reserved for the second half of June in the Serbian capital. HC New Belgrade is working hard to promote the fifth tournament in its organization, which will be held in Belgrade in early summer 2020. The tournament date does not change (June 26-29) and the competition will run in seven categories for boys (2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 and 2008) and three categories for girls (2004, 2006 and 2008). Last summer the event has the record number of participating teams, but organizers do not want to stop there.
As we use to have from an organization also next year there will be novelties when it comes to the competition itself but also outside of the court. Side content is built in a way to offer unforgettable experiences to those who will visit the capital of Serbia. In the boys’ category, for the first time, there will be a competition in the category 2002, named ” the elite group.”
Given that they are boys aged 18, the quality of handball is expected to be at a higher level than before. The organizers made sure that the teams also had enough time to visit the city, so according to that on the third day of the competition, all the games will end earlier. Teams will organize different types of city tours. all to promote Belgrade as one of the oldest metropolises in Europe.
– We have emphasized on several occasions that we have been working on the organization for 11 months during the year. We had our first activities in September, with promotions throughout Israel and other cities around Europe. We are fortunate to have people who promote us. The words of a satisfied coach who has already participated in the tournament with the team are priceless. This is the main reason we have progressed so quickly in the number of teams – says tournament director, Ivana Maksimovic, and adds:
– On the first competitive day we will have an opening ceremony and then a party for the players. On the second day, we dedicate to the coaches and again we will organize an evening for them at the outdoor pools near Belgrade. We have already announced an evening (28.6.) called “meet Belgrade” where we offer to the teams various tours of the city, that day the competition will end in the afternoon, so the teams will have the opportunity to have fun and rest before the most important final day. This year we made up the first contact with the Belgrade Tourism Organization and they expressed their wish to support this project, seeing that every summer there is an increasing number of boys and girls from all over the world. I have to stress out that next summer we will have teams from Israel and Greece again on the handball camp. The first applications are already arriving. I believe that once again we will be up to the task as organizers and I predict that the New Belgrade Summer Cup 2020 will be the biggest and strongest handball competition since its beginning – Mrs Maksimovic concluded optimistically.
