Nikola Karabatic for HW: We don’t perform better if we play 70 matches per season

The number of matches becoming the topic No.1 among the TOP handball players. DON’T PLAY THE PLAYERS campaign was launched a few months ago with some results in terms of IHF decision for the upcoming World Championship’s events. However, there are still a lot of ways to protect the TOP players from exhausting season’s schedule. Nikola Karabatic in talk with Handball Woche, isn’t satisfied with the things how is going on:

• Responsible are thinking – the more we play, the more fans will be interested in handball. But I have concernings about this opinion. Quality of performance doesn’t get better if we play 70 matches per season – said PSG Handball star. 

Eariler, his team-mate Mikkel Hansen announced thinking about missing the next World Championship 2021 in order to keep his body fit for the rest of career after season in which players will have two big events – Men’s EHF EURO 2020 and Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
