NO MORE Vipers Kristiansand!

The European Handball Federation on Monday was informed by Vipers Kristiansand of the club’s immediate bankruptcy, coming into effect on the day of the information.

The information also included that the club will withdraw from the EHF Champions League Women.

The EHF acknowledges the club’s withdrawal. Competition-related and legal consequences resulting from Vipers’ decision are now being dealt with and will be communicated in the next couple of days.

STATEMENT OF VIPERS:

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the board of Vipers (Våg Handball Club) has decided to close down operations and declare the club in liquidation. The board made the decision after thorough assessments of the club’s financial situation and the lack of opportunities to continue operating. The triggering factor for the decision is the lack of an operating guarantee for the current season, in combination with a lack of liquidity.

At the extraordinary annual meeting on October 28, 2024, a new board was elected, based on the assumption that an external group of supporters would provide an operating guarantee for the 2024/2025 season. The board’s assessment is that this guarantee is not real, which makes it irresponsible to continue the club’s activities.

Serious economic situation

The results from 2024 show a significant challenge with the club’s liquidity. The club’s board does not expect liquidity to strengthen sufficiently until the summer of 2025 at the earliest. When the trustee after the bankruptcy of Vipers Topphåndball AS has also notified a claim of NOK 1.3 million, there is no basis for continuing to run the club.

Based on the lack of a guarantee and the club’s serious liquidity challenges, the board has been forced to file for bankruptcy and go to bankruptcy court on ( January 13, 2025 ).

Thanking supporters

We at Vipers would like to extend a big thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, members and other supporters who have contributed and supported us through a demanding period. Their commitment and contributions have been invaluable to the club.

The announcement marks the end of a long and proud history for the Vipers.
