HSG Wetzlar summer 2025: Frank Carstens leaves, Momir Ilic comes?


HSG Wetzlar are going to change head-coach for the season 2025/2026.
The German team has announced that current coach Frank Carstens will leave the club at the end of current season.
The new coach according to several sources will be the Serbian one Momir Ilic.
The 43-years old coach has five years of experience in Hungarian Veszprem, where he was between 2021 and 2024 in charge of the first team.
He was also a candidate for overtaking position of the Serbian national team head-coach, but at the end, Raul Gonzales will lead the “Eagles”.
Ilic has played at Bundesliga between 2006 and 2013 for VfL Gummersbach and THW Kiel.
HSG Wetzlar are currently on position No. 14. Last season team ended on 13th place. The best ever season was 2016/2017 when Wetzlar ended 7th.
