PARIS 2024: Denmark strong for Slovenia in Olympic opener
The first match of the Women’s Olympic handball tournament has been played in Paris. The three-times Olympic champions Denmark easily outplayed newcomers from Slovenia 27:19 (14:11) to take first points on the road to knock-out stage.
Slovenian girls were in balance in the first 20 minutes (9:9), when the difference in quality came in front. Danish goalkeeper Althea Reinhardt was in “Olympic mood” at the start of the journey with 15 saves which was decisive in the second half. Denmark opened second-half with 4:0 series (18:11) to put pressure off after half-time break and raised advantage until +10 (26:16).
Friis and Ostergaard was TOP shooters for the winning squad with five goals each, same as Stanko and Gros in Slovenian jersey.
