Perez de Vargas Faces Potential Long-Term Injury After Knee Blow
FC Barcelona is worried about Gonzalo Perez de Vargas. The Spanish goalkeeper suffered a knee injury during a match against CB Bidasoa Irún. THW Kiel is also concerned, fearing a severe diagnosis.
Perez de Vargas had to be carried off the field by teammates after the injury. Following a 32:30 win against Bidasoa Irún in their domestic league, the shock came in the second half when Perez de Vargas twisted his left knee after a save, causing him intense pain. His teammates had to help him off the court.
FC Barcelona reported on Instagram that Perez de Vargas sustained a ligament injury to his left knee and would undergo medical tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
Barcelona has already been missing players like Jaime Gallego, Juan Palomino, Petar Cikusa, and Pol Valera due to injuries, and now their star goalkeeper, who is set to join THW Kiel in the summer, could be out for months.
