Slawomir Szmal is Polish hero. One of the best goalies in European handball in last decade, showed once again his TOP quality in the most decisive moments of the first match at Men’s EHF EURO 2016 in Krakow. Vive Tauron Kielce goalkeeper saved the penalty shot of Serbian captain Ivan Nikčević 20 seconds before the end for a big celebration of his team – 29:28 (13:15).
Polish team was in minus during the first half when Serbs led by amazing Petar Nenadić has two goals advantage (8:6, 16.). However, despite weak defense, Polish attack was a better part of the team, dominant in the second half, when Biegler boys made turnover – 21:18 (39.).
Serbs managed to came back on 26:27 in 51. minute, but Szmal was unbeatable in the tight finish…
Michal Jurecki netted five goals for the winners, while while Ivan Nikčević scored 7 (5 from 7-meter shots).
