Poland: Olafsson’s 10 lead Vive Kielce past Powen Zabrze

In the 21st round of the Polish League, Vive Targi Kielce crushed at home Powen Zabrze 45:27. The first half certainly was not a good example of precision – one might have thought that in their heads Kielce players were already in the upcoming match against Pick Szeged. They could not keep any advantage and Zabrze had a few chances to draw, which they did not take though. In the last 2 minutes hosts scored 3 goals in a row and gained a reasonably significant advantage – after a halftime they led by 4 goals. A break seemed to have a good influence on Kielce because in the second half the team played much better. Minute by minute their playing looked better and better; neither Powen’s attack nor defence existed while Kielce players were defending well and scoring impressive goals. It was a very good performance of Thorir Ólafsson, who was the top scorer with 10 goals, and Mateusz Jachlewski; both goalkeepers – Venio Losert and Kamil Buchcic also played well. Eventually Vive Kielce won by 18 goals; this victory means that the Polish Champions have the first place in the league table guaranteed.
