Rastko Stojkovic: “Vive as a new Vezsprem – Denmark isn’t a TOP NT”

Second goalscorer of EHF Champions League in a T-shirts of Polish champion Vive Targi Kielce and line player of Serbian national team, Rastko Stojkovic (29) gave interesting interview to Balkan-Handball.com:

– Maybe we were to relaxed on the beginning. We lost against Chambery, who was defeated two times last season. Celje PL had “game of the season” against us. We played good against THW Kiel and Rhein Neckar Lowen. I miss that 7m-throw, but that is happening. We are waiting for our chance to surprise someone. It will be a race until end for that fourth place, but if we done that, get TOP 16, that means that we are TOP team.

About Polish handball and Vive…

– Poland has all predisposition to become even more serious handball country. Vive played every game in Europe in front of 4.500. They have TOP national team, who brought publicity. Obviosly in our city, money is no problem. We are popular as same as football players.  Maybe is a problem selfconfidence and fact that Polish players didn’t learned to play under pressure. That is no problem for Balkans players. In one talk with a Boss, I heard from him that nobody put a pressure on the team and that team is still rising, making in a process. They are aware that success can’t come over night. I am glad that I heard that. People who has money, thinking in that way, that in sports you can’t buy results. With that, I think that Vive can become a new Veszprem, team who will play Final of CL, win a European titles…

About Serbia at WC 2011 in Group with Croatia, Denmark and Romania…

– I don’t think anything. After EURO 2010, I don’t want to think, just to do my job. What will happened in Sweden? I just know that Serbia will go to Sweden. That is for sure. About our opponents. Australia and Algeria are not important. We are better than Romania. I don’t think that Denmark is TOP quality team. In their game, everything is on Mogesen, with whom I played many years in Germany. Their tactics is “give the ball to Mogesen”.  We lost against them in Austria, but that is only our fault. You can’t let their left wing to run 10 counter atacks. Both can’t run 10, if you want to win. We have to run more to defense, than to offense…

Croatia with a new coach…

– That will be interesting to see. They have their negative sides. They don’t have a right back, for example. If you put on the paper, we are better individuals, but that never means something. Serbia has to build a team. We don’t have that. So, from today until Sweden and in the future, we have to work on that.
