Reinier Taboada to play for Netherlands

The Netherlands’ national handball team received a major reinforcement ahead of the European Championship in January 2026. The International Handball Federation has finally approved the registration of Cuban left back Reinier Taboada, who will now be eligible to wear the jersey of the “Oranje.”
Taboada, born in Cuba, officially obtained Dutch citizenship in October 2024, which opened the possibility for him to represent his new national team. The approval process took several months, but with the positive outcome, the Netherlands now gain a player who will bring additional depth to their backcourt line.
