Serbian NT coach Obradovic: Why Hungarian and Romanian teams don’t let our girls to join national team?

Women’s Serbian national team coach Ljubomir Obradovic couldn’t count on all wanted players for the EHF week. According to his statement on Balkan-Handball.com, there are several reasons why some of the girls who are playing in France, Romania and Hungary couldn’t join the team. One of them is “threat that they will get lowe salaries”.

  • We had to change our plan. Only few of senior girls are in Camp. French, Romanian and Hungarian teams suggested girls not to join national team due 15-days isolation which they should past after coming back. Girls are afraid by the teams for reducing salaries, sanctions, so I told girls that we don’t want to put them in dangerous position although teams need to leave them during EHF week. We decided not to force this and to make them troubles in their clubs. Unfortunately, situation is like that we making camps doing from tournament to tournament. We did a lot of things, we will do more, we are not helpless. However, Hungary and Romania practice with full squads, but don’t let our players to join NT? How they can and we don’t? Who will explain this? – said Obradovic, with whom on the helm Serbia won sixth place at the last Women’s World Championship 2019 in Japan.
