Sergey Hernandez to Barca in 2026?

The most successful team in the handball world, FC Barcelona, will try to keep the domestic flame on the goal line in the near future.

Spanish national team goalie Sergey Hernandez will replace Danish giant Emil Nielsen, who should join Hungarian Veszprem in summer 2026, according to Handball-Planet.com sources.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper is playing his second season in an SC Magdeburg jersey, where he proved himself on the biggest handball stage after making big improvements as a member of Benfica SL in the period 2020-2023.

With Benfica Hernandez won EHF European League in 2022, while in SC Magdeburg list of trophies is even more impressive with “double crown” in season 2023/2024 and IHF Super Globe trophy.

Hernandez became a member of the national team recently in “battle” with profiles like Rodrigo Coralles and Gonzalo Perez de Vargas.

Barca’s legend Gonzalo Perez de Vargas will join THW Kiel at the end of the season. His replacement coming from Plock – Icelander Viktor Hallgrimsson.
