The third very interesting second match of the VELUX EHF CL TOP 8 will be played in Skopje after Veszprem and Barcelona! German SG Flensburg packed only+2 goals against RK Vardar 24:22 (13:14) in front of 6.300 home fans in “Flens Arena”. It looked like that Ljubomir Vranjes’ team will celebrate convincing win after ten minutes without goal of Macedonians (21:20 – 24:20) from 45 to 55th minute, but at the end Vardar’s goalkeeper Petar Angelov ended fantastic evening with a few more saves which caused better result for his team.
Macedonians played brave and smart handball during first 35 minutes. Playmaker Igor Karacic was unstopable until 16:14 (35th), when German defense become the decisive factor on the court with a lot of fast breaks and “first wave” goals by Mogesen, Glandorf and the others. Flensburg took the match in own hands, but that wasn’t enough to make some bigger advantage before the second match in Skopje next weekend…
