Spain before EHF EURO 2012: Baena replaces injured Garabaya

Line player of Ademar Leon, Rafael Baena will substitute injured Ruben Garabaya in the Spanish squad for the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia. New medical tests confirmed that Garabaya has problem with his right knee and the only solution to solve that is a 15 days of rest from Handball.

That means that Garabaya won’t be ready for the preparation period, so Valero Rivera found a replacement.

The pivot Reale Ademar León Rafael Baena Valero Rivera was summoned to the concentration of the Spanish handball team to meet the low late Ruben Garabaya injured.

The ‘Red’, which started on Monday the European pre-concentration of Serbia (15 to 29 January), he trained normally in Barcelona, except Garabaya (Naturhouse La Rioja) which, in company with the national team doctor Jose Antonio Gutierrez, had to undergo tests in the Catalan Council for Sport.

The results confirmed an acute patellar tendinitis in his right knee Garabaya Ruben. In the opinion of the physician, “for its solution requires specific treatment and 15 days sport rest.”

Because of this low last minute Baena has entered the list and be available to travel to the coaching staff. On Thursday, the Spanish coach will communicate the names of players who will defend the interests of our country’s international commitments in the coming weeks.
