Veszprém extends contracts with three key players!

One Veszprém has announced the continuation of cooperation with three core members of its squad. Nedim Remili has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2029. In the cases of Luka Cindrić and Thiagus Petrus, the club has activated extension options from their previous agreements — meaning the Croatian playmaker will stay until 2028, and the Brazilian defensive specialist until 2027.
“We are trying to build the pillars of Veszprém for the upcoming seasons, and these three extensions perfectly fit into that strategy,” said Dr. Csaba Bartha, CEO of Veszprém Handball Team Zrt. “After consultations with head coach Xavi Pascual and sports director László Nagy, it was quickly decided that this trio can continue to play a major role in achieving our goals, both domestically and internationally.
Nedim’s class has long been known; this autumn he has been the real leader of the team. Thiagus became a pillar of our defense almost immediately after his arrival, while Luka demonstrates playmaking qualities that can lead us to success.
This summer we welcomed stars like Ivan Martinović, Yanis Lenne, and Ahmed Hesham, and next year Emil Nielsen and Lukas Jørgensen, both Olympic champions, will join us. We are working to make our roster even stronger,” added Bartha.
Remili, who joined Veszprém from Kielce two and a half years ago, quickly became one of the team’s leaders:
“This is already my fourth season here, and I still feel just as great as when I first arrived. I will fight for the team, for the fans, for the city. I want to thank our supporters for the love they showed me back in February 2023. It’s an honor to play for this club. I truly believe the future here is bright — let’s continue together and make our dreams come true,” said the French international after signing his new contract.
Regarding Luka Cindrić, the club has exercised its option to extend:
“I am very proud and grateful to the One Veszprém management for their trust and for extending my contract for another two years. It’s an honor to represent this club. On and off the court, I’ll continue giving my best so that together we can achieve our goals. Hajrá, Veszprém!” said the Croatian playmaker.
As for Thiagus Petrus, who had signed a 1+1 year deal before this season, Veszprém quickly decided to trigger the additional year:
“I’m thankful for the extra year — it’s great for me and my family to know our future early. I really like the Veszprém project and I’m happy to remain part of it. My teammates and the fans have helped me feel at home very quickly. Now I’ll keep pushing forward to achieve even more with this fantastic team,” said the Brazilian defensive ace, once voted Europe’s best defender.
