In Kolding the first two matches were between Norway and Slovakia followed by Romania and Portugal, and both matches resulted in big wins to the favorites Norway and Romania. Norway won 34 – 19 over the Slovak girls who already in the first half felt the strength of the Norwegian team with the half time score 17-11.
The girls from Portugal faced a strong Romanian team led by Perianu and Pricopi who scored half of the goals in Romania’s 31 – 22 win.
Hungary and Spain met in the third match which turned out to be an extremely close match. The half time score 10-10 expresses the course of the match which in the end turned out to Hungarian advantage 22-21.
Afterwards Sweden and Slovenia met in the late match in Kolding and after a close first half ending 12-12, Sweden took their play to next level and won the game 28-19.
First match in the Women’s 19 European Championship was between France and Austria. The first half was close and ended 13-11 in France’s favor. The rest of the match continued to be close, resulting in an equal final result 21-21.
Then Holland and the Czech Republic met in Skansen. The first half was also close but ended 17-15 in Holland’s favor. Throughout most of the second half Holland had a small lead, which they held and won the game 32-28.
Third match in Sønderborg was between Russia and Germany. Russia went to the break with a comfortable seven-goal lead 16-9. Through the second half the Russians increased their lead and Germany was never a threat to them even though they fought bravely. The game ended 31-19.
The host country Denmark welcomed Croatia at 20:00 pm in the arena Skansen. The teams were welcomed in a cheerful arena with many spectators. Very few goals was scored in the first half, but still Denmark managed to lead by sex goals at half-time,13-7. In the second half, Denmark increased their lead and the game ended 21-12 in Denmark’s favor.
