WC 2011 Final: French “Experts” ready to break Wilbek’s “playstation”? (Sunday 17h)

The website of IHF doesn’t function for the last two days, so in advance we are out of relevant informations, that would announce the great final of this 22nd World Championship in Sweden. In the final of this championship will meet, France and Denmark, a game scheduled for 17h. Like two years ago in Zagreb, we’ll have a final between the most powerful teams, France and of course the team can be considered the home team, Denmark, as Danish fans will come in huge numbers from Copenhagen.

The Danish team will have its first opportunity to become world champion. They only had the chance once, in long 1967, but then they lost to Czechoslovakia. On the other hand, France have experience in winning titles, as they won three times (1995, 2001, 2009).

On this tournament, Denmark managed to get all 9 wins so far. Among the teams they beat are Croatia, Sweden, Poland, and in the semifinal Spain fell too. The Danish will again rely a lot on their two best players, Niklas Landin (22), and of course the left back, Mikkel Hansen (23) with 58 goals so far the topscorer on this tournament, and probably the best player so far too. Danish play very fast handball, with superbly-organized counter-attacks and ball-giving, which sometimes presents a problem to the cameras too…

The French on the other hand, are razing everything in front of them. Only the Spanish managed to get a point from them (28-28), but only after they had a big lead. But that didn’t shake even a little the “experts”. In the semifinal they played only “as much as necessary” and didn’t let the atmosphere in the hall shake their game. The main stars are Omeyer, Karabatic and Bertrand Gille, but also the defence with Didier Dinart seems unbreakable. They play routinely, computerly precise and without wasting too much energy. From that they produce great counter-attacks through Guigou and Abalo, and when there is a problem, there’s always Karabatic and Fernandez in the attack to prove their individual worth.

What we will see from that on “Gerflor” hall in Malmo, we will know tomorrow, sometime after 18 hours and 15 minutes…
