Xavi Sabate to lead Hungary at WCh 2017!

The Hungarian Handball Federation announced that interim coach Xavi Sabate will lead the national team at upcoming Men’s World Championship 2017 in France. The Telekom Veszprem coach overtook national team as a fireman after missing Olympic chance with Talant Dujshebaev on the bench at Men’s EHF EURO 2016 in Poland.

The first step was succesful, the WCh 2017 Play-Off matches against Serbia.

  • I am very proud of being asked for further work, and I am very grateful to my club, which allowed me to continue to work with the national team. The qualification for World Championship in France was very important for the future of Hungarian handball. I am very grateful to Nándor Fazekas, or players like Laszlo Nagy, who was very tired after the Champions League F4. Despite the fatigue, they all were happy to come to the national team and did everything to ensure a successful qualifying – said Sabate.
