Diego Simonet out of Rio 2016

The Montpellier star has torn the anterior cruciate ligaments of his right knee and will be out of the courts for at least six months. Last Saturday, in an action during the match against Flensburg for the eight finals of the Champions League, the Argentinian fell to the floor in pain and abandoned the court.

What at first appeared to be a bad injury, looked less important when he bounced back to play, wearing a protection. But the injury has been confirmed today, and it struck in just when Montpellier was enjoying Simonet at his best.

Tonight, on the Argentinian radio show Handball de Primera, Dr Carlos Marino, from the medical staff of the South American team, will give more insights of an injury that will very likely make the centre back miss the Olympic Games, as well as every competiton in the following months.
