Prokop to leave TSV Hannover Burgdorf in summer 2026!

TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and head coach Christian Prokop will amicably end their cooperation at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. In a respectful and constructive exchange, both parties agreed on a new direction after the contract expires in the summer of 2026.

“After long and intensive discussions, we have jointly come to the decision not to continue our cooperation after this season,” explained sporting director Sven-Sören Christophersen, adding: “After what will then be five eventful and intense years, we are thereby creating clarity for Christian’s future as well as for the perspective of our club. We are grateful to Christian for the time we have spent together, his strong identification with the club and the work he has done.”

The 46-year-old Prokop has been on the sidelines for DIE RECKEN since 2021. In particular, the remarkable years with, for the first time, three consecutive finishes in the upper third of the table under the leadership of the EHF Master Coach have written a special chapter in the club’s history, along with all the developments that accompanied them. After careful consideration, however, both parties now feel that a change for the future is the right step.

“We want to bring our appreciative cooperation to a fitting conclusion and create further positive experiences over the remainder of the season. The eventful years we have spent together have brought us many valuable experiences and defining moments, which we will remember fondly,” emphasized RECKEN managing director Eike Korsen in this context.

With gratitude for the time spent together and with an eye on the future, Christian Prokop explains: “My family and I have always felt very comfortable here. I would like to thank everyone for the intense and successful period behind us, during which we were able to experience many emotional and beautiful moments together. I am very proud of that. But I am not finished here yet – my focus is already on what lies ahead, and I want to achieve many more positive things together…”
