Corona Virus: Denmark VS Brazil without spectators

Danish Handball Federation has announced that match of women’s national team against Brazil at the end of March will be played without spectators. The decision was made on the basis of the recommendations of the Prime Minister and the DIF regarding COVID-19. Ticket holders will be able to get their money refunded.

The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen presented new and sharpened advice and guidelines on COVID-19 (corona) at a press conference on Friday, March 6. The authorities’ guidelines for events in Denmark are that they cancel or postpone events with more than 1,000 participants. The new guidelines are introduced to contain and prevent the spread of infection.

The Danish Handball Association naturally follows the guidelines of the authorities, and this now has consequences for a number of handball matches in March, which will be held without spectators in the stands. The following matches apply:

  • Women’s national team training matches against Brazil on March 28 and 29
  • All matches in the HTH League, Primo Tours League and 1st Division in March.

Ticket holders for the women’s team matches will be able to get their money refunded. Details of the refund will follow next week.

In relation to Santander Final4, which is scheduled for next weekend at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, at the beginning of next week will clarify whether this can be moved to a later date.

“We are obviously sorry that the national team is playing in empty arenas – both for the sake of the players and not least for the many fans who have been looking forward to experiencing Jesper Jensen’s first match at the head of the Handball Ladies – but at the same time we take the official recommendations seriously, and of course follow the authorities’ guidelines, ”says Sports Manager of the Danish Handball Association Morten Henriksen.
