Eduarda Amorim is NEXE World Handball Female Player of the Decade!

Handball-Planet.com is proud to present the final result of our 10 years Project which was concluded by the Jury consisted of 21 TOP coaches, handball legends and journalists from various part of the World.

Eduarda Amorim is the NEXE WORLD HANDBALL FEMALE PLAYER OF THE DECADE!

The 34-years old back-line player of the Brazilian national team and Hungarian TOP team Gyori Audi ETO KC made a lot success during 10-years time in which her teams were among the best in the world of handball. “Duda” is one of the iconic faces of our sport who won a lot of major titles. She was a part of fantastic Gyor’s journey, five trophies of the Women’s EHF Champions League, but also Brazilian team who was at the TOP of the world in 2013, when the first ever non-European team won World Championship in front of 20.000 fans in Belgrade.

Eduarda won World Championship 2013 MVP Award. She was also IHF World Player of the Year 2014, member of EHF CL All Star Team as best left back in 2014 and defensive specialist in 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020, World’s best defensive specialist 2019 by Handball-Planet.com in 2019.

VOTING PROCESS

Every member of the Jury made two BEST 8 teams – first line-up and 2nd best line-up from nominated players.

Players from the first line-up will get 2 points, while MVP will get 3. Players from the second-line up will get 1 point each.

Players with the highest number of votes will become the member of BEST 8 of World Handball Decade 2011-2020. The one with the biggest number of votes will become as WORLD HANDBALL PLAYER of the Decade.

Favorites of the fans (31.704 votes in total) got 3,2 and 1 point per position. Player with the biggest number of votes got 5 points (Majda Mehmedovic).

HANDBALL PLAYER OF THE DECADE

6 of 21 Jury members have choosen Cristina Neagu for World Handball Player of the Decade among four other players who have been supported. Eduarda Amorim and Heidi Loke got support by four, Katrine Lunde by 3, Nora Mork by 2, Anna Vyakhireva and Amandine Leynaud by one Jury member.

In total number of points, Eduarda Amorim and Heidi Loke had 49 each ahead of Cristina Neagu 48 and Katrine Lunde 45. As both girls got the same number of MVP nominations, the next criteria was how much points they got from Jury before fans (46+3). They were the same again, so the decisive was number of votes which she got from the fans. Amorim got 2.800 ahead of Loke 1.874.

Same number of points had Nycke Groot and Andrea Lekic on playmaker’s position. Decisive was that Groot got more votes from the Jury (22 vs 21).
