IT’S OFFICIAL: Ales Pajovic is new SG Flensburg Handewitt coach

SG Flensburg-Handewitt has announced Ales Pajovic as their new head coach (we wrote yesterday). The club had considered various options, including waiting until summer for a new coach, but they are pleased to have secured Pajovic’s immediate services. Flensburg’s sporting director, Ljubomir Vranjes, stated that Pajovic impressed them with his philosophy, vision, and communication skills. With experience as a player at the highest level and having learned under top coaches like Talant Dujshebaev and Raúl González, Pajovic brings significant expertise.
Pajovic, currently coaching Austria’s national team (ÖHB), will continue in that role until the end of the European Championship qualifiers. He acknowledged that leaving the ÖHB after six years is difficult, as they built a strong team together. However, he sees coaching Flensburg as a major opportunity in his career.
Statement from Pajovic:
“The SG is a great club. I felt honored when Ljubomir reached out, and I didn’t have to think long before saying yes. Coaching an internationally successful team like SG is a rare opportunity. I’ve watched many of their games and see room for improvement. We have a top squad with great potential, and our goal must be to compete at the top. We need to leave the past behind and move forward together. I want to use the entire roster to develop SG further and take a step-by-step approach with the team.”
