Jaron Siewert public message: Deeply disappointed…

The dismissed Füchse Berlin coach, Jaron Siewert, addressed the incredible turn of events at the German champions in a message on Instagram. Just about ten days ago, he lost his job when the club dismissed him along with sporting director Stefan Kretzschmar, appointing the Dane, Nikolaj Krickau, in their place.

Dear handball family, dear Füchse fans,

Some time has passed, and the first emotions have settled. What remains is deep incomprehension – and a great human disappointment towards the decision-makers of Füchse Berlin. To show the door to a boy from Reinickendorf, who was the embodiment of the club’s philosophy and who dedicated himself with full commitment as head coach, hurts the most.

It is important to me to make clear: my departure from Füchse Berlin was solely the decision of the shareholders and the management. On that Thursday, I went into the meeting firmly believing I was going to sign the already discussed new contract – and was instead completely unexpectedly released. That hit me out of the blue.

Of course, managing directors act in the conviction that they are doing what is best for the club – even if that is, for me at this moment, very difficult to comprehend.

What is especially important to me: neither individual players nor groups of players had anything to do with this decision. After many personal conversations, it was very important for me to gain certainty about that as well.

Nevertheless, I am deeply disappointed that a given word is worth nothing. That in addition, “public pressure” is cited as the reason for this decision – even though the issue was brought to the media by the club itself – is, for me, incomprehensible.
