Jesper Jensen said “NO” to Wilbek

One of the golden Danish EURO 2008 heroes, playmaker from Skjern, Jesper Jensen (33) announced his retirement from the national team, after national coach, Ulrik Wilbek selected him for the coming matches against Russia in the EURO 2012 qualification stage.

Jensen wasn’t selected for the WC 2011 in Sweden. Instead of him, Wilbek gave a chance to youngstar, Lauge (20), who showed a great potential for the future of Danish handball. Probably, that was the main reason, why experienced playmaker (120 appearances for “A” team) decided to finish his career in national team.

– I have great respect for Jesper Jensen’s decision. If you are not necessarily motivated to play in the national team is the one to sign it out, the only right thing to do, “says Ulrik Wilbek.
