Nikolaj Jakobsen “mildly surprised”: Gidsel and Pytlick “insanely well”

It was an unforgettable night for Danish handball in Paris. In clash of two teams led by titans in their possible last meeting – Nikola Karabatic and Mikkel Hansen, Denmark were far ahead of host team 37:29. Eight goals in total at the end was a reason why Danish NT coach Nikolaj Jakobsen was a little bit surprised:

– I think we play really good handball. After a difficult start where we are behind 9-4, we keep our composure and fight back. We have coached on three/three defense for some time and that gave us some momentum. We play well led by Mathias Gidsel and Simon Pytlick. They play insanely well,” says Nikolaj Jacobsen to DR and continues:

“I knew we were doing well, but you’re not supposed to know everything! I didn’t expect that we would win by eight over France!”
