RK Zagreb sign Nikolic and Kalarash

The two latest signings for RK Zagreb for next season are arriving from Hungarian runners-up OTP Bank – Pick Szeged.
They are Serbian international Jovica Nikolić and Russian international Gleb Kalarash, who will strengthen the ranks of the Croatian champions from this summer.
Jovica Nikolić – one of the best players of his generation
The 24-year-old right back will add depth to a position that will be left vacant by Luka Lovre Klarica’s departure.
Jovica Nikolić was considered one of the best young players in Europe, and he earned full recognition as the youngest debutant in the history of RK Vojvodina.
He also had a spell in the Bundesliga with Wetzlar, and before joining Hungarian side Szeged, he briefly played in Kuwait.
“It is a great honour for me to become a player of a big club with such a rich tradition as Zagreb. After my spell at Pick Szeged, I see this as another major step in my career and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead. After sporting director Damir Bičanić presented the club’s plans for the future and the project itself, it was not difficult for me to make my decision. I am sure that everyone in the club wants to make a step forward in Europe next season, and that is also my main goal. For Zagreb to be competitive at the highest level. Winning the two domestic trophies is also something I would like to achieve with Zagreb, and I am genuinely looking forward to next season.”
Jovica Nikolić and RK Zagreb signed a two-year contract.
Gleb Kalarash – European champion!
The 35-year-old Russian international also arrives in Zagreb from Szeged, and during his rich career he won the EHF Champions League title with Vardar Skopje.
The 205 cm tall line player is an excellent defensive specialist, and besides Szeged and Vardar, he has also played for Saint Petersburg, Motor Zaporizhzhia, Magdeburg, Balingen and Melsungen.
“I am very happy to have signed for Zagreb. I know the club well, I have played against Zagreb many times in the SEHA League and in the Champions League. I like the winning mentality, and the fact that we will also be playing in the Champions League next season was definitely decisive. The goal is clear: winning the two domestic trophies and achieving the best possible result on the European stage.”
Gleb Kalarash and RK Zagreb signed a two-year contract.
