SC DHfK Leipzig releases head coach and sporting director – Frank Carstens takes over, mission “to stay in the league”

With immediate effect, SC DHfK Leipzig has relieved head coach Raúl Alonso and sporting director Bastian Roscheck of their duties. This decision was made jointly by the shareholders and supervisory board together with managing director Karsten Günther. Günther then personally informed Alonso and Roscheck.
“I would like to thank both of them for their commitment, their ideas, and their passion for SC DHfK. Up until the match in Minden, we firmly believed that we would find our way back to success in this constellation, but we had to painfully realize that the desired development failed to materialize and that staying in the league is now in acute danger. Therefore, we decided on an immediate change in the sporting leadership and will do everything we can to keep Leipzig in the ‘strongest league in the world’,” said Karsten Günther.
The head coach position will be taken over immediately by Frank Carstens (54), who was introduced to the team today at 4 p.m. and conducted the first training session with the players. He brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and is very familiar with challenging situations in the fight to avoid relegation. The Lower Saxony native previously coached SC Magdeburg, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, OHV Aurich, and spent many years at GWD Minden. Most recently, he worked at HSG Wetzlar.
