Spain is the first finalist at the World Championship 2013 in Barcelona. Valero Rivera’s team beat Slovenia 26:22 (13:12) after good defense performance between 40th and 50rh minute, when Spaniards made decisive advantage (series 6-0- 21:14). With awful 9 meter shoot (2/18), Slovenia couldn’t make something more in match with psychically stronger Spanish players. In the first half, Slovenian goalkeeper Gorazd Skof (11 saves) with right wing Gasper Marguc (7) kept Slovenian ambitions alive, when Spain was in lead – 12:7.
The last signs of resistance has been seen when Borut Mackovsek scored goal for 15:14 in 40th minutes. Strong Spanish defense with Sterbik between the posts was the key factor for another win of Spanish team, which pushed them in the big final on Sunday.
Huan Canellas scored 5 goals, while Marguc (7) and Dolenec (6) where the best in Slovenian team.
